Rothschild Giraffe
´The Giraffe’s necks may be long but they still only have the seven vertebrate which are common to all mammals, including us. They also have long, tough, dark-coloured tongues which they use to pick leaves off trees. Special splayed incisor teeth also help them to strip the leaves away from the branches.
´Giraffe are highly social animals and live in herds of 15 to 20 female giraffe and some young males.
Giraffes can reach a speed of 60km per hour at gallop over a short distance, and 50km per hour over a longer distance.
